DANCE LIKE NO ONES WATCHING
I am a trained Sound Therapist with my own practice. The vibrational power of sound has an unbelievable effect on our health and well being. I am sure we have all experienced the influence of music on our moods. To lift us to relax us , to alter the dopamine in our brains.
Today find some music you love and move to it. This can take the form of energetic dancing to revive your spirits or gentle swaying to relax the body and reduce anxiety.
Be it in the car, on your way to work, in the office or at home ! Turn it up and get moving. Sing out loud too if you want to, although probably not a good idea if you are actually in the office with other people.
What we really need right now is a good sing at the top of our voices. I promise you it will change the way you feel immediately. An instant fix.

ITS CHRISTMAAAAAAS ! Parties are back on the menu. I am sure all my readers have a big night out planned so its time to shake your beauty routine up and indulge with a celebratory pamper evening. Yes girls and boys its all about you and shaking off the lockdown look.
THE COUNTDOWN STARTS HERE ……….
So let us assume that you managed to get your nail bar appointments ( hey girlfriend where were you ?) at least Monday or Tuesday ! No one does their own nails anymore do they ?? Otherwise allow an extra hour. Also pre select your outfit and accessories and lay them all out on the bed beforehand. No last minute rummaging or repairs to stress you out.
Pour a glass of bubbles and get some party music on. Put on a fluffy terry robe. Pull hair back. Cleanse face, with a firm facial massage to get the blood pumping and bring a glow to your skin. Now is not the time for micro needling or glyco peeling or using new products.
Scrutinize the eyebrows plucking any stray hairs and tidy them up.
Now time to depilate any excess hair. I suggest a gentle method for your pre party pamper. Apply some cream such as Immac or Veet and while that is working for 10 minutes use that time to body brush the rest of your body .
Jump in the shower to rinse the cream. Gently exfoliate with a handful of sugar and olive oil especially on your depilated areas to avoid ingrown hairs. Wash hair. Finish with a freezing cold burst of water on hair to flatten the cuticles and all over your body to energise you.
Now you are all clean. Draw a warm luxurious bubble bath. HIGHLY RECOMMEND L’OCCITANE LEMON VERBENA FOAM BATH £22. Remember this is about a celebratory pamper not wallowing in your own filth (and depilitary cream!). So to your damp hair apply a rehydrating super glossy hair mask and wrap in a hot towel or turban. My fave is BLEACH LONDON REINCARNATION MASK £7.50.
Apply a no nonsense hydrating sheet mask. An inexpensive but highly effective one I have recently tried is GARNIER MOISTURE BOMB £2.99.
Wallow for a good 15 minutes. Rinse hair mask.
Wrap yourself in a huge warm terry towel. Pat yourself dry. Rub in residue of face mask into skin.
Spritz yourself in a dry body oil to lock in the moisture and make your skin look glistening and healthy. Two fabulous ones are BOOTS NO7 BEAUTIFUL SKIN PAMPERING DRY BODY OIL £12 AND A FIRM FAVOURITE, HUILE PRODIGIEUSE DRY OIL choose the one with the gold sparkle in it. A good tip here run some through dry hair for glistening shine.
Rough dry hair. Put in large velcro rollers for smooth hair if required. Just don’t apply too much heat to hair by overdrawing and over processing. Remember we are going for a glossy just got out of lockdown look !!
Giant rollers in. Time to do your make up. Skin should be looking plumped and glowing. Apply a moisturiser and a base such as MAC STROBE CREAM £25 that now comes in 4 shades. This can make any skin look dewy. Apply your foundation/bb cream over the top. Some over tips for a glossy look use cream products where possible. NARS ILLUMINATOR in COPACABANA dabbed onto your cheekbones. LAURA MERCIER SECRET UNDER EYE BRIGHTENING POWDER £22.50 to light up under eyes. As you get older the less eye make up the better it looks more youthful. KEVIN AUCOIN DIAMOND EYE GLOSS a beautiful transparent eye close that glistens. I discovered a fabulous new mascara in lockdown for long glossy smudge proof lashes MARC JACOBS AT LASH’D MASCARA £25. Finish with an extra glossy nude/beige lip gloss , much more flattering on older lips than bright colours.
Set your make up with my perennial favourite BARRY M DEWY FIXING SPRAY £4.99 I NEVER leave the house without a spritz of this on my face for an all day fresh dewy look.
Rollers out. Run fingers through hair with some iconic KERASTASE HAIR ELIXIR £39 for radiant hair and an extra spritz of shine mist. The best I have tried is BRITISH HAIR PERFECTLY BRILLIANT SHINE SPRAY £9.95 it smells good too.
Heading for the finish line. Just before getting dressed give your body a good shake. Each leg, each arm , your head and shoulders , hands, feet . You will be surprised at this instant energiser. Slip into your clothes. A quick spritz of your favourite perfume. One last look in the mirror to check yourself out . Blow yourself a kiss, tell yourself “I love you” and head out of that door to re establish your social life. HELLO WORLD !

It is the most wonderful time of the year. the chance to (finally) bring the glamour on with endless rounds of social events. Even dinner a deux requires a little more effort at this time of the year. Then when you are not partying there are some serious country looks going on too. Great or the school run, long wintry walks in the Country or weekends away partaking in country pursuits.
Both looks are of course combined if you are lucky enough to be invited to a country house party at this time of the year.
So let us view my picks for an injection (yes another booster !!) of glamour whether you are on an endless social spree or just staying at home. Lets go glam !
From the little black dress to jewel colours. Tops such as sequinned bolero or a vava voom tee to jazz up an existing outfit. Beautiful earring as real glamour is about attention to every detail and if you are staying in it just HAS to be maribou/ feather trimmed pjs……….doesn’t it ? Surely ?

COUNTRY CASUAL EDIT
Although there is nothing casual about this look. It is super stylish and thought through but not give the impression that you have tried tooo hard. The “no make up make up look” but in the world of fashion.
Country casuals have to be practical and comfortable. Muted colours keep it classy for the winter months. So we have some practical footwear and of course trousers must be warm and skinny to tuck into long boots. Nothing worse than damp trouser bottoms flapping around your ankles. Super stylish outerwear. Tartan and khaki great colours for the country scene. Coats and jackets are your investment pieces for this look and as the country look tends to not be fashion led these pieces will last a lifetime. Don’t forget the accessories , some brightly coloured scarves for your otherwise muted tones and Mulberry for handbags complete your country wardrobe.

With COP26 well under way this week in Glasgow, lets talk green !
Now , I realise some people are in denial about climate change but no one can deny that we are ruining our planet with at best poor housekeeping and at worst dirty filthy habits. There also can be NO denial that we can nurture our planet by all just making a few subtle changes to our lifestyle.
I decided to write about this following a dinner party discussion which involved us listing how green we were. Now I have never really thought about myself as being a green activist but I was surprised how “green” I actually live. I know I could do more but what I do , I do on a consistent basis, without too much trouble or hardship. So I will list the things that I came up with over the dinner table, which I am sure most of you already do, but if you don’t try to make some small adjustments to help clean our beautiful planet up. If I can do it, I am pretty sure you can. The planet is a thing of beauty to be handled with care and passed onto the many generations to whom we pass the baton.
Always shower and only for 30 seconds unless i am washing my hair, rarely bath.
I generate only half a small bag of waste each week. Only use bio degradable bin bags never plastic.
Turn tap off while cleaning my teeth
I do not class myself as a vegetarian but I only meat about once every six months
Do not buy fast disposable fashion. I shop for clothes twice a year not twice a week ( or as some people do twice a day !!!)
No longer buy bottled water I bought a Brita filter jug but I use the filter three times longer than recommended. I have a reusable bottle for life for water on the go.
Energy efficient . I only have lights on in the room that is being occupied.
Installed solar panels on my roof to lower my energy bills.
Make my own cleaning products from white wine vinegar/lemon juice and soda crystals to cut down my chemical waste.
Now take trains for long journeys (this is new to me !!) but they are much better than I recall.
I have hessian lifetime shopping bags.
Buy loose fruit and vegetables and don’t even use the plastic bags on the rack they go onto the conveyer belt singularly !!
Oh… and I only have one child. Now I would never, unlike Meghan and Harry tell you how many children to have. Even though they now have gone against their own advice. Do as they say not as they do has become their mantra ! But just saying. This is only about me.
I certainly do not want to become a green preacher but these are all simple things to inject into your everyday life without too much planning. Think, if we all did these basic things what a massive difference we could make collectively.

Boys get bullied
Boys get called fat
Boys get called ugly
Boys get judged
Boys get hit/abused by girls
Boys feel alone
Boys suffer with depression
Boys cry themselves to sleep
Boys self harm
Boys get eating disorders
Boys get suicidal
Boys commit suicide
Boys feel pain.
So while we continue to discuss and empathise with how we are treated as women and the effect on womens mental health especially in the recent light of the tragedies of Sarah Everard and Sabina Nessa and not foRgetting #MeToo campaign. Let us not forget the men in our lives. Our sons. grandsons, brothers, lovers, fathers and our friends. ask them how they are feeling today……….and then ask them again…….How are you REALLY feeling today ?
Look at the list again I am pretty sure they will be feeling at least one of those statements today right now. You will never know until you ask!
So let us not overlook men in the fight against mental health ………they are more likely to be suffering in silence.
