THEY MEET ON A WEEKLY BASIS AND EACH FRIEND BRINGS A CUTTING FROM THE NEWSPAPERS THAT WEEK OF AN INTERESTING ARTICLE TO DISCUSS. IT CAN BE AN AMUSING ARTICLE OR A BUSINESS/POLITICAL (ALTHOUGH ANY BREXIT TALK IS BANNED) ARTICLE. ANYTHING THAT CAN PROVOKE DISCUSSION AND DEBATE. THIS KEEPS THEM ALL INFORMED BUT ALSO KEEPS THEM MENTALLY ASTUTE. RATHER THIS THEN JUST MEETING TO DISCUSS TRIVIALITIES OR IN HER WORDS KNITTING PATTERNS AND DWELLING ON AGEING HEALTH ISSUES.

I HEARD AN INTERESTING STATEMENT TODAY. HUGGING RELEASES DOPAMINE AND CAN INCREASE THE MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH OF THE ‘HUGGER’ AND ‘HUGGEE’ IN A HUGELY POWERFUL WAY. IMAGINE HAVING ALL THAT POWER IN YOUR ARMS TO CHANGE THE LIFE OF SOMEONE (AND YOURSELF) IN SUCH A DRAMATIC WAY………AND SO EASY TO DO ! HUGGING CAN RELIEVE STRESS AND ANXIETY AND BRING DOWN BLOOD PRESSURE. LOWER DEPRESSION AND REDUCE FEELINGS OF LONELINESS.

PLEASE HUG YOUR CHILDREN ON A DAILY BASIS (EVEN HOURLY) IT IS SO IMPORTANT FOR MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH AS THEY DEVELOP AND IT HELPS TO CREATE A STRONG BOND. A HUGGED CHILD IS A HAPPY CHILD. VERY OFTEN IN THIS TIME VALUABLE OVER STRESSED TIMES AS A PARENT IT IS VERY EASILY OVERLOOKED. MAKE TIME. WHEN A CHILD HAS A TEMPER TANTRUM INSTEAD OF SHOUTING AT THEM JUST HUG THEM AND HOLD THEM CLOSE. IT WORKS , I PROMISE YOU.

SO TODAY I WANT YOU TO HUG AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE FOR AT LEAST 20 SECONDS BUT MAKE IT A MEANINGFUL HEARTFELT HUG. A WORD OF WARNING IF YOU ARE HUGGING A STRANGER OR SOMEONE YOU FEEL NEEDS IT BUT YOU DONT KNOW THEM WELL , PLEASE ASK THEIR PERMISSION FIRST. PARTS OF YOUR BODY YOU LOVE AND THE MIRACLES THAT OCCUR EVERY DAY WITHIN THAT BODY AND OUR LARGELY NEGLECTED FEET THAT SUPPORT US EVERYDAY. PLEASE KEEP THIS POSITIVE AND LEARN TO APPRECIATE……YOU. Embracing 2020

As I write this on New Years Eve it is definitely one night of the year I stay in ALONE for a quiet time of reflection and goal setting for the year ahead. Yes another one of my rituals (see my Christmas Rituals post 21st Dec).

People put too much pressure on themselves on New Years Eve to go out too over priced events and convince themselves they are having a good time. It always seem so forced. I inherently dislike being grabbed by strangers for a celebratory kiss as the clock tones twelve, what is it about this night that condones otherwise unacceptable behaviour.

Dare To Be Different

I always value my cosy New Years Eve to do just as I like it is a real personal pleasure for me.

Your task this week is to discover how this year you can do things differently. Forget resolutions that are negative which concentrate on habits you need to give up. Resolutions that you need to work hard at. This year we are going to embrace positive resolutions things you need to ADD to your life to ensure it is more beautiful.

DISCOVERING SILENCE

NOW THIS SEEMS A PECULIAR HEADING BUT MANY PEOPLE HAVE NO MINDFUL SILENCE IN THEIR LIVES WHATSOEVER. DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON IT BECOMES EVEN MORE NECESSARY TO FIND TIME TO YOURSELF TO FOCUS ON YOU. THE CHAOS, THE CROWDS THE TO DO LISTS IN THE RUN UP TO CHRISTMAS. ON THE ACTUAL DAY THE DEMANDS CAN BE ENORMOUS BOTH PHYSICAL AND MENTAL. EVEN IF YOU ARE ENTERTAINING DURING THIS PERIOD IT IS IMPERATIVE TO TAKE EVEN 20 MINUTES ALONE TIME. YOU WILL RETURN TO THE FOLD REFRESHED AND APPRECIATIVE READY TO SAVIOUR THE PLEASURES OF CHRISTMAS.

NOW BY THIS TIME YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE MEDITATION. THE BENEFITS ARE ENORMOUS FROM 5 MINUTES TO A WHOLE HOUR ON A DAILY BASIS. BUT THERE ARE STILL BENEFITS TO JUST ENJOYING ALONE PEACEFUL TIME IF YOU DONT FEEL LIKE MEDITATING. THIS IS CRUCIAL. YOU ARE IMPORTANT.

HOW TO DATE YOURSELF

  • MAKE A DATE WITH YOURSELF IN THE DIARY EVEN IF ITS ONLY 30 MINUTES DAILY. DO IT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE WEEK AND FIT YOUR SCHEDULE AROUND THIS
  • JUST ENJOY SILENCE. LIE IN A COMFORTABLE POSITION WITH NOTHING ON…..I MEAN NOISE. BUT THAT WORKS TOO !!
  • GO FOR A WALK….ALONE
  • A LONG LUXURIOUS BUBBLE BATH WITH CANDLES
  • A 30 MINUTE FACE MASK WITH LEGS PROPPED HIGH ON CUSHIONS.
  • A MEDITATION EVEN USE THE 5 MINUTE MEDITATION ON THIS BLOG THAT I CATALOGUED. OR A GUIDED MEDITATION ON LINE.
  • STARE OUT OF THE WINDOW LOOKING AT CLOUDS MOVING AND THE WONDROUS SHAPES. THE WILDLIFE BIRDS AND SQUIRRELS GOING ABOUT THEIR BUSINESS. THE COLOURS OF THE LANDSCAPE. THE WEATHER, MARVEL AT THE RAINDROPS, THE SHAPE OF SNOWFLAKES, THE WARMTH OF THE SUN.

THESE ARE JUST A FEW IDEAS, I AM SURE YOU HAVE MANY OF YOUR OWN. THE IMPORTANT THING HERE IS TO HAVE COMPLETE SILENCE AND LET YOUR MIND GO INTO FREE FALL.

MERRY CHRISTMAS BUT DONT FORGET TO FIND TIME FOR YOURSELF DURING THE BUSY PERIOD IT WILL MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE TO YOUR MENTAL STABILITY AND ENJOYMENT OF THIS MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR.
