Each week I concentrate on the following 12 mantras but today I am giving you a bumper edition. 12, yes 12 mantras , just one word to focus on . Take one word for each week and make it your own whatever this word means to you and how you can incorporate the thinking into your life. 12 weeks will take you up to Christmas ( yes I said the C word , I wanted you to hear it here first ) so think of this as the advent calendar of happiness. Please notice there is no mantra for money. But with these 12 core values money you will see is not an indicator of happiness it is a short term motivator. Of course we need enough to pay the bills but is not a solution to happiness by concentrating on the following you may find that money flows to you anyway.

I think we probably all have someone in our life that have been bad to us or let us down. We probably feel deep anger and disappointment in these people we trusted and let into our lives. Why didn’t they treat us the way with the courtesy and kindness we showed them. The feelings get deep routed into our psyche more than we know and it impacts our other relationships and existing and future friendships.
Today I want you to practice letting go of regret, guilt, or resentment and to start making space for forgiveness, happiness , it is time to set yourself free.
Remember this exercise is about you not the other person . The other person has the problem not you. Forgiving them does not necessitate you talking to them this is about the relationship with yourself.
However if you feel the need to make yourself heard in order to heal. Then arrange to have a conversation with this person.
If you miss the person and want to repair the relationship then write a letter / e mail to this person and SEND it giving them time to digest your feelings without interruption or argument. After reflection you may find you contributed to the situation that arose. So, explore this.
JOJO’s STYLELIST TIP:Both forgiveness of others or self forgiveness is extremely cathartic it is all about controlling ones own mind and feelings in order to healoneself in order to move forward and find freedom.
I have talked about the powerful beauty and health properties of herbs but now it is all about the spices. so now it is time to put some spice back in your life. so let’s take a look at a few spices you can introduce into your life immediately.
Sometimes called Curcumin. This bright orange spice has amazing anti ageing properties. Anti oxidant and anti inflammatory it has an ability to fight toxic free radicals in the body. Reducing the risk of free radicals forming and reducing stress in the body. It also has anti viral properties to protect the body from virus or eradicate what is already there.
Curcumin has also been found to increase the growth of new neurons in the brain to help fight degenerative brain diseases and boost memory and cognitive function.
It is good to consume with a fatty meal as it breaks down and dissolves in fat allowing for greater absorption. Try it as powder in soups , curries or golden milk (recipe given at the end to maximise all the spices in one drink ).
Turmeric should always be taken with black pepper tor maximum effectiveness which takes us to the next spice.
Often called the king Of Spices and has been used in ancient ayurvedic medicinal practices for many years. Black pepper contains Piperine which speeds up the absorption of turmeric so always add to your turmeric. Cn improve blood sugar control and increase metabolism. Other health benefits include anti-inflammatory and potential cancer fighting properties. Was used in ancient medicine for menstrual, ear, nose and throat disorders due to its anti bacterial content.
The quality of the cinnamon is paramount here. Also I must point out that consuming cinnamon breakfast buns does not count ! This tends to be a cinnamon sugar so there are no benefits with these. Sorry folks !
Most of the cinnamon you see in supermarkets is “cassia” cinnamon which does not contain the same health properties as “true” cinnamon. So the only true cinnamon is Sri Lankan cinnamon. Many people do not realise there are two types of cinnamon. Cassia is considered a lower quality cheaper cinnamon. So look for TRUE cinnamon to enjoy its many benefits.
Just a sprinkle of cinnamon can reduce the fat and glucose absorption when taken with a meal. Very good for diabetics. Very rich in anti oxidants. Also sprinkled onto oats, coffee or milk can curb a sweet tooth. But can also be. used in curries, tagines and eggs and other savoury dishes. However cinnamon in large doses can be dangerous although it is hard to consume spoonfuls of cinnamon you only have to view the TIK TOK challenge to understand that !
Can help to reduce high blood pressure which also reduces the risk of developing heart disease. Also increases the production of digestive fluid to aid digestion and provide protection in the stomach against infections.
I also sprinkle this on food to speed up my metabolism. I am sure many of you tried Beyonces 3 day diet of lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne before an important event to shed those pounds.
This ancient spice has MANY health properties in both fresh root or powdered variety. Helps in the digestion of food and speeding it along the intestines. Great for lowering blood sugar. It is very well known for curing nausea and travel sickness, remember Granny giving you a piece of stem ginger in the car ?
Can also help to fight off chronic dieases and promote health ageing by preventing stress and damage to your body’s DNA. I also find it fantastic with migraines and colds.
I love the taste of ginger in both savoury or sweet dishes. Use in curries, soups, green juices,rice pudding ,porridge, cookies the list is endless to get a daily quota of ginger.
RECIPE FOR GOLDEN MILK
An ancient Ayurvedic recipe this comforting milk can contain all the above spices for amazing benefits and sending you off to a peaceful sleep.
Boil some coconut or almond milk in a saucepan .
add a teaspoon of turmeric, a quarter of teaspoon of ginger, a sprinkle of cinnamon and black pepper. Add a couple of cardamom pods. Simmer for 10 minutes. Strain into a mug and sprinkle the top with nutmeg. Do not add any cayenne as it will leave you awake all night.
This is delicious add some honey if you prefer it sweeter . I don’t know anyone who has not had an amazing nights sleep after a mug of Golden Milk at bedtime.

GET SOMEONE TO TICKLE YOU AND SEE HOW LONG YOU CAN GO WITHOUT LAUGHING.
YOU PROBABLY HAVE MANY MORE IDEAS OF YOUR OWN. BUT THE MANTRA FOR TODAY IS “THINK LIKE A CHILD ” THAT IS THE ONLY RULE.

This weeks mantra may give you some deep and positive thinking. It cropped up on my Headspace app the other morning and it really resonated with me. I would like to share it with my followers and readers and I hope it resonates with you too and bring you calmness and serenity.
“A DAY THINKING ABOUT WHAT COULD HAPPEN, SHOULD HAPPEN OR WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN IS A DAY MISSED “
This is a mantra that should be lived by every day for life. Repeat it enough times so it becomes an instinctive reality.
OK guys lets get the jokes out of the way. Vagus diametrically opposed to ‘Vegas” this is not a wild, partying drinking exercise but a calming, peaceful experience.
I first learned about the Vagus Nerve and the Thymus gland (fed by the VN) many years ago during my training to become a Sound Healing Practioner. The benefits of stimulating this nerve and gland are so great I thought i would share them with you today.
WHAT IS THE VAGUS NERVE
The Vagus nerve is the longest of all cranial nerves. It travels from the brain through the trachea, larynx, heart, lungs, liver, spleen, pancreas and intestines.
BENEFITS OF STIMULATING THE VAGUS NERVE
Bearing in mind all the organs this nerve passes through the benefits to both your body and your mind can be huge. There is a direct link to mental health such as depression and anxiety. Coping with the effects of stress on the body by calming the heart rate and emotions. Inflammation in the organs. Responsible for making white blood cells therefore boosting immunity. Aids digestion as the nerve is supplying the digestive tract right down into the intestines. The health of this nerve therefore is important to the body holistically.
HOW TO STIMULATE THE VAGUS NERVE
To calm your anxiety immediately we can use the branch of the vagus nerve in the ear and neck. There are many nerve endings in this area stemming from the vagus nerve. So gently pull on each ear in turn. Massage gently behind the ear in front of the hairline and then in front of the ear. The massage should be light and sensory not full acupressure. When in front of the ear bring the middle finger and fore finger in a straight line down the side of each neck. You will find this action very calming and great for anxiety.
SINGING AND CHANTING
As the vagus nerve is connected to the vocal chords and throat this is a great way to stimulate them and reap all of the aforementioned benefits. Of course belting out Motorhead or heavy metal songs will not have the same effect as gentle music and gentle chants too. As you are probably aware chanting is normally deep in the throat try OHHHHHHH, AHHHHHHHH, EEEEEEEEEH. Humming is also good . Hum every morning when you are in the shower to wake that Vagus Nerve up.
Just rhythmic breathing from the abdomen can really help but combining this with Ujjai breathing is really powerful. If you practise yoga you will be familiar with this style of breathing, throat breathing. Vibrating a sound as you breathe out deep in the back of the throat.
Holding poses, breathing, twisting, chanting relaxation. Doing a daily yoga practice can maintain a healthy vagus nerve and keep it at an optimum level.
THE THYMUS GLAND
This gland is located in the centre of your chest just behind the breastbone and directly connected to the vagus nerve. Leading Psychotherapists state that the Thymus Gland “controls the life energy of the body”. Tapping on the Thymus is a simple technique you can use anytime if you want to strengthen your immune system.
The tapping should be heavy enough to make a drumming sound in your chest. Tap in an anti clockwise direction for about 30 seconds. breathe naturally as you do this. The vibration caused by the tapping stimulates the gland and the vagus nerve it is attached to, massaging the heart, lungs and bronchial tubes and draws blood and energy to nourish the thymus.
The thymus tap is also good for jet lag. Tap every hour while travelling to reset your body clock.
So this extra long nerve and this little gland are incredibly powerful and by giving them a little extra attention and some love and care you will reap some amazing rewards.

Vibration helps to clear the channels and pools of stagnation within the body. .Think of it like a flowing mountain stream with clear fresh water and eliminating those muddy little pools.These exercises contained in these articles will help you to connect with your body and get to know it better.

I AM A VERY GOOD LISTENER BUT IT REQUIRES GREAT CONCENTRATION. I ALWAYS MAKE SURE I GIVE MY UNDIVIDED ATTENTION WHEN SOMEONE REALLY WANTS TO TALK. MY PHONE IS SWITCHED OFF , I HAVE EYE CONTACT AND I ACKNOWLEDGE WHAT THEY HAVE SAID. SOMETIMES THAT ALL SOMEONE NEEDS IF THEY ARE HAVING A BAD DAY OR GOING THROUGH SOME MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS.
IT IS RARE THAT I MEET A VERY GOOD LISTENER. SO PRACTISE THIS ART REGULARLY AND ONE DAY I HOPE TO MEET YOU SO YOU CAN LISTEN TO ME !!

There is a heavy concentration in these present times on mental health but let us not forget therapy for our bodies. We invariably neglect our bodies as the nights draw in and we start to layer on the clothes but our bodies are truly amazing complex structures that need to be nurtured and maintained. It is time to devote more concentrated time to the body so lets start by having a body therapy day that ideally would be scheduled once a week.
Here is a list to structure into a BODY THERAPY DAY to restore and revitalise.
On waking BEFORE getting out of bed start the day (every day) with the 6 way stretch. Catch the video on a previous blog (August 2019) on this site. I guarantee by performing these stretches before rising will ensure you move with grace throughout the rest of the day.
Brisk walk to your local Greengrocers for your food for today. Nutritious soups, cleansing smoothies and crunchy fresh salads and herb teas are the order of the day. Grab a lemon too for plenty of water during the day with some lemon slices. It is important to go to just a fruit and veg store. NO SUPERMARKETS, NO SWEETSHOPS…..NO TEMPTATION ! Focus today on gut health to and increasing your microbiomes introduce raw sauerkraut, kefir, kimchi and kombuchka into your diet.
Once home discover a gentle yoga class on youtube. Denise Austen is very good and offer 100s of different classes and duration. Choose a stretching and breathing on hour class. Breathe into your stretches and love your body get to know any stiffness and work through those movement. Listen to your body.
Follow this with a full body self massage with organic sesame oil. Start with a body brush to remove dead skin cells. Then massage your body paying particular attention to your joints. Really wring those tissues out. Use this time to check your breasts too if you do this massage weekly you will recognise any differences in your breasts more easily. also don,t forget to massage your feet and any reflex points. Your feet deserve a treat when you think how hard they work for you.
Shower the oil off alternating the water from hot to cold to stimulate the blood in your body.
After lunch time to get your IPL handheld out we all have one of these now don’t we ?? If not book a session at your local salon. Its time to depilate and remove any unwanted body hair. This also must be a regular practice to semi- permanently remove hair.
Hopefully after reading my previous articles you would have purchased my cannot live without PRANA MAT. If you lie on the needle like protrusians it really is like an at home acupuncture session and great for cellulite and back problems. Invest in one.
Evening time light some candles and time for some meditation. Again there are many downloadable meditations. Meditating regularly has proven benefits for your body as well as your mind. Cleansing your organs and clearing your body of so many harmful stressors and focussing on bringing light into your body and expelling the stale dark negative air. Practise daily .
Finally draw yourself a warm not hot bath and fill with Epsom Salts to soothe your muscles and rid your body of impurites and water retention. Create a peaceful ambiance in your bathroom with aromatherapy candles , soft lighting and warmth. Ensure you have a warm fluffy terry towelling robe to wrap yourself in. Bodies love texture and touch.
So that completes our body therapy course now get plenty of sleep to ensure its recharged for a more strenuous day tomorrow !!!

WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY OF FREE SPPECH WHERE WE THINK WE CAN SAY ANYTHING WE WANT ABOUT ANYONE , PARTICULARLY ON SOCIAL MEDIA. BUT THE REAL FREEDOM IS NOT FEELING THE NEED TO SAY THOSE THINGS ! IT IS THE JUDGEMENT OF OTHERS THAT GIVES THE ILLUSION OF FEELING BETTER ABOUT OURSELVES.
UNDERSTAND THE ROOT OF YOUR NEGATIVITY.
TRY TO TURN A NEGATIVE COMMENT INTO A POSITIVE ONE. IF THIS IS DIFFICULT THEN DO NOT SAY ANYTHING, DO NOT INVOLVE ONESELF IN NEGATIVE GROUP CHATS WITH FRIENDS. TO SPEAK WITH A FORKED TONGUE CAN IMPACT ON OUR OWN MENTAL HEALTH. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVE PEOPLE TO BRING JOY AND HAPPINESS TO YOUR LIFE.
