When you reach your fifties and beyond you start to realise most of the things you fretted about in your younger years really all work themselves out all by themselves. I thought it would be fun to ask all my friends for a contribution and between us we came up with this list.
It is not the end of the world after a break up in 6 months you will wonder what you saw in him/her almost embarrassed you were actually together. leave with dignity.
The next boyfriend is ALWAYS better than the one before.
The first time someone shows you are…..believe it …..the first time ! people really do not change their essence . If you see something you don’t like heed the early warning signals it wont get better.
A certain amount of alone time is integral to your personal growth. Once you learn to enjoy your own Company and get to know yourself at a young age this will strengthen you for the rest of your life,
Always show appreciation to those that are good to you. Genuine friends are hard to find. Hold onto them. Good manners count for a lot. Turn up on time. Respond immediately to invitations. Listen without judgement. Gifts of appreciation.
People are drains or radiators. Surround yourself with radiators those that radiate positivity. Friends that drain you or you are exhausted or sad after seeing them can really affect your own mental state see them less .
Envy is the scourge of mostly women friendships only cultivate friendships with those younger, prettier and richer than yourself to avoid those who want to bring you down.
Invest more time in your friendships than your boyfriends these friendships will support you throughout life. Don,t ditch your girlfriends when you meet a man you can have both.
Avoid expensive face creams or beauty products they are basically telling you lies and getting you to buy into your securities. Find what works for you.
Wear clothes that suit your style and body shape not because a magazine tells you what you should be wearing.
Never over pluck your eyebrows they do not grow back.
Exercise does not make you smaller- eating less makes you smaller. The gym firms you up but yoga firms both body AND mind.
You were never as fat as you thought you were ! Love your body and appreciates what it does for you.
Start networking at a young age. Advancement has more to do with who you know and not what you know. The importance of building a good network cannot be underestimated. Exams are not everything.
Never work for the money if you are not loving the work. If you do something you love you will never work a day in your life. If it pays less adapt your lifestyle.
Always mentor those that report to you. Be inspirational.
Do not be intimidated in the workplace you are just as smart as they are.
Set life goals as well as work goals. Short, medium and long term …it worked for me. A map for your life journey is essential. Start it in your teens and update and adapt as you travel through life.
Finally…….BE AUTHENTIC ! BE YOU ! BE YOUR BEST SELF !

Grab a coffee and sit in a pavement cafe and just watch people walking by and going about life. Everyone has their own stories . Construct their stories in your own head. Their fears, their insecurities, financial difficulties, their strengths, what makes them laugh, when they last cried. are they happy with themselves, with life. Their battles and their victories. Backgrounds and professions.
This can really change the way you look at others and understand we are all pretty much the same and we all want the same things from lives and face similar challenges.
I feel this weeks lesson is very important in the current political climate when we all seem so angry with people that we do not know and we all actually want the same outcome.
Lets be more forgiving .

DANCE LIKE NO ONES WATCHING
I am a trained Sound Therapist with my own practice. The vibrational power of sound has an unbelievable effect on our health and well being. I am sure we have all experienced the influence of music on our moods. To lift us to relax us , to alter the dopamine in our brains.
Today find some music you love and move to it. This can take the form of energetic dancing to revive your spirits or gentle swaying to relax the body and reduce anxiety.
Be it in the car, on your way to work, in the office or at home ! Turn it up and get moving. Sing out loud too if you want to, although probably not a good idea if you are actually in the office with other people.
What we really need right now is a good sing at the top of our voices. I promise you it will change the way you feel immediately. An instant fix.

I HEARD AN INTERESTING STATEMENT TODAY. HUGGING RELEASES DOPAMINE AND CAN INCREASE THE MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH OF THE ‘HUGGER’ AND ‘HUGGEE’ IN A HUGELY POWERFUL WAY. IMAGINE HAVING ALL THAT POWER IN YOUR ARMS TO CHANGE THE LIFE OF SOMEONE (AND YOURSELF) IN SUCH A DRAMATIC WAY………AND SO EASY TO DO ! HUGGING CAN RELIEVE STRESS AND ANXIETY AND BRING DOWN BLOOD PRESSURE. LOWER DEPRESSION AND REDUCE FEELINGS OF LONELINESS.
PLEASE HUG YOUR CHILDREN ON A DAILY BASIS (EVEN HOURLY) IT IS SO IMPORTANT FOR MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH AS THEY DEVELOP AND IT HELPS TO CREATE A STRONG BOND. A HUGGED CHILD IS A HAPPY CHILD. VERY OFTEN IN THIS TIME VALUABLE OVER STRESSED TIMES AS A PARENT IT IS VERY EASILY OVERLOOKED. MAKE TIME. WHEN A CHILD HAS A TEMPER TANTRUM INSTEAD OF SHOUTING AT THEM JUST HUG THEM AND HOLD THEM CLOSE. IT WORKS , I PROMISE YOU.
SO TODAY I WANT YOU TO HUG AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE FOR AT LEAST 20 SECONDS BUT MAKE IT A MEANINGFUL HEARTFELT HUG. A WORD OF WARNING IF YOU ARE HUGGING A STRANGER OR SOMEONE YOU FEEL NEEDS IT BUT YOU DONT KNOW THEM WELL , PLEASE ASK THEIR PERMISSION FIRST. SIT DOWN NAKED IN FRONT OF THE MIRROR AND STUDY YOUR FACE AND BODY (OBVIOUSLY AT HOME ALONE, NOT IN THE OFFICE !) . REALLY FOCUS ON ALL THE THINGS YOU LIKE ABOUT YOUR FACIAL FEATURES, YOUR EYES, LIPS EVEN THE LINES YOU HAVE HAD FUN IN EARNING. PARTS OF YOUR BODY YOU LOVE AND THE MIRACLES THAT OCCUR EVERY DAY WITHIN THAT BODY AND OUR LARGELY NEGLECTED FEET THAT SUPPORT US EVERYDAY. PLEASE KEEP THIS POSITIVE AND LEARN TO APPRECIATE……YOU. As I write this on New Years Eve it is definitely one night of the year I stay in ALONE for a quiet time of reflection and goal setting for the year ahead. Yes another one of my rituals (see my Christmas Rituals post 21st Dec).
People put too much pressure on themselves on New Years Eve to go out too over priced events and convince themselves they are having a good time. It always seem so forced. I inherently dislike being grabbed by strangers for a celebratory kiss as the clock tones twelve, what is it about this night that condones otherwise unacceptable behaviour.
I always value my cosy New Years Eve to do just as I like it is a real personal pleasure for me.
Your task this week is to discover how this year you can do things differently. Forget resolutions that are negative which concentrate on habits you need to give up. Resolutions that you need to work hard at. This year we are going to embrace positive resolutions things you need to ADD to your life to ensure it is more beautiful.

This week …….
As we grow older we start seeing patterns and deeper spiritual meaning of life. Often we get caught up in the here and now. Many lessons can be learned from the older and wiser. Think how much you, yourself have learned from your own experiences.
So, this week I want you to find an older person to sit down and speak to this could be someone you know but schedule time. Or strike up a conversation with an older person as you go about your daily routine offer to take them for a coffee and a cake. Imagine how special you will make this person feel and that their contribution is valuable. You will also gain valuable life lessons. WIN WIN.
I personally love conversations with the elderly and regularly visit clubs and homes with my sound healing classes. I find their experiences and knowledge absolutely fascinating. TRY IT !!!
